Raised in multiple countries all over the world, Or leverages her unique Jewish background in all that she does. An Associate at Kirkland & Ellis LLP, she is an “extremely talented rising star,” shared her friend, and is a member of the firm’s Restructuring group.

Or goes above and beyond her case load—she is also deeply dedicated to a variety of pro bono work. She is also a “fearless advocate” for Israel and the Jewish community.

Or is a JUF Young Leadership Division (YLD) Board Member and strives to make sure that all in the community feel a sense of belonging. At the Passover seders and Shabbat dinners that she hosts, she encourages cultural sharing, all while proudly sharing her own heritage.

Age: 32

Primary gig: Associate at Kirkland & Ellis LLP

Grew up in: Israel, Spain, Denmark, and the United States

Describe yourself in 10 words or less: Loyal friend, vegan for the animals, hardworking, pop music aficionada.

A Jew who inspires you: My grandmother, Cotitina Melul Benarroch, who prioritized and cherished her Jewish identity despite immense geopolitical tension and societal pressures. She grew up in 1930s Melilla, Spain, where our family founded the Sinagoga de Or Zaruah o Yamín Benarroch. In Tangier, Morocco, she met with King Mohammed V and advocated against the deportation of Jews to concentration camps, prompting King Mohammed to personally stop the Vichy boat carrying my grandfather, Max Gozal, to Europe. She dined with Prime Minister Golda Meir and hosted Prime Minister Shimon Peres, entrenched herself in Jewish communities around the world, and was an extraordinary mind, a visionary light years ahead of her peers, a voracious reader, and the very definition of an intellectually curious leader who embodied Judaism to her core. Not to mention, she was the best grandma ever.

Your best piece of advice: There is nothing quite like being a self-assured Jew. Embrace it loud and proud, wherever you go, and let it guide you.
