Gathering for Good is a new social club for PJ Library families to come together for monthly volunteer projects and holiday celebrations.  Gathering for Good is a great way to meet new friends in your neighborhood and make a difference in our community in a fun, family-friendly way

Volunteer projects may include:

  • Making fleece blankets for the homeless
  • Beautifying senior centers
  • Baking cookies for patients and families at the Ronald McDonald House
  • Assembling Care Kits for children undergoing chemo
  • Sorting books at Bernie’s Book Bank
  • Serving meals at JUF’s Uptown Café
  • And more!  Additional projects will be added based on the group’s interests

Who can join?

Ages:  Best for families with children ages 2-6 yrs.  

Neighborhoods: Groups are currently forming in the City West and Northern Suburbs.  City West neighborhoods include (but are not limited to) Bucktown, Wicker Park, West Loop, Ukrainian Village.  Northern Suburban neighborhood group includes Northbrook, Deerfield, Highland Park, Glenview, and Glencoe.  Families outside these neighborhoods are welcome to join, just note the majority of events will take place in these neighborhoods.

Gathering for Good Membership Fees

The cost to participate is $75/family*.  This cost covers:

  • Program supplies and materials that will be donated to different agencies in our 6 family volunteer sessions
  • Family friendly Vegetarian/Kosher meals and/or snacks for Shabbat Dinners and family volunteer projects
  • Appetizers and 1st glass of wine at parents' reception
  • Participation in the closed Gathering for Good Facebook group offering additional volunteer opportunities

When I Grow Up- Cartoonist

PJ Library and PJ Our Way invite you to meet Jordan Gorfinkel a former DC Comic editor, a writer, and cartoonist.  Through an interactive discussion and hands on cartoon workshop, get to know Jordan Gorfinkel and begin to understand how Judaism and cartoons can be intertwined.


PJ Celebrates Tu B'Shevat

Sunday February 4, 4:00-6:00pm

Join PJ Library and jBaby Chicago at the Dupage Children's Museum on February 4, from 4-6 pm for havdalah and to celebrate Tu B'Shevat, the New Year for the trees! Enjoy crafts, snacks, private admission to the museum and music from Ms. Aimee Leigh. Tu B'Shevat fun for the entire family!
