| | YLD's Big Event: Sunday, November 15 |  |  | Register Now forthe biggest YLD event of the year featuring an evening with Andy Samberg, internationally acclaimed comedian and star of Saturday Night Live! This exciting event will take place on Sunday, November 15, 2009 at 6:00 pm at the Swissotel (323 East Wacker Drive). The cost to attend is $75 per person, including hors d'oeuvres, open bar, dessert reception and after-party. In addition, all participants are required to make a donation to the 2010 JUF Annual Campaign. The minimum requirement is a match or increase to your previous JUF gift. If you have not given to JUF in the past, you are required to make a gift. Attendance at the event signifies your consent. Your donation can be paid in installments through December 2010. Become a table host to secure group seating with your friends at the event! Table hosts will be asked to fill a table of 10 (including yourself) by having your friends register online. You will be responsible for submitting your table guest list to YLD by November 2. If you would like to be a table host, please contact the YLD office. All other seating will be general admission. There will be a Ben-Gurion Society (BGS) VIP Reception at 5:00 p.m. to acknowledge YLD donors who contribute $1,000 or more to the 2010 JUF Annual Campaign. The Shabbat dinners will be hosted at 7:30 p.m. in Lincoln Park. The cost of the dinners are $36 (includes Kosher dinner and wine). Advanced registration is required for either/both of the events. Limited spots are available and reservations will be taken on a first come, first serve basis. Upon registration, you will receive a confirmation email with location and details. Register Online. Fall LEADS (a YLD program) is hosting a “Fall Closet Clean-out” event on Sunday, October 25 for the ARK thrift shop. During this changing-of-the-seasons, please consider donating used clothing to this very worthy cause. Please also encourage your friends, family and other members of the community to donate clothing. You can drop off your clothing at 2650 Lakeview Avenue on Sunday, October 25 from 1:00 - 3:00 p.m. A LEADS volunteer will be there to collect your goods. |  |  | | IsraLimmud Informational Session: Sunday, November 22 | Hillel and the JCRC Israel Initiative invites you to attend an information session on IsraLimmud - Israel Education Fellowship on Sunday, November 22 from 4-6 pm in Chicago (precise location TBD). IsraLimmud is a free fellowship program certified by the Jewish Federation of Metropolitan Chicago. Led by former Jerusalem Post Editor Carl Schrag, the fellowship consists of seven to eight workshops, which will equip participants with a strong understanding of Israel’s history and provide proper context for engaging in advocacy on behalf of the Jewish state. At this meeting we will determine future dates and times based on participants' availability. Everyone is welcome; no prior knowledge necessary. A light dinner and refreshments will be served. For more information or to RSVP, please email Lindsay Folkerth. |  |  | | Lecture and Discussion with Reverend Otis Moss III: Wednesday, October 28 | The Holocaust Remembrance Committee, the young leadership of the Illinois Holocaust Museum & Education Center, hosts Trinity United Church of Christ Chicago Pastor Reverend Otis Moss III for a lecture and discussion on October 28th. The narrative of the Jewish community colored by the pain and suffering of the Holocaust, is parallel to the African American community’s narrative of the dehumanization and loss experienced during the Middle Passage. What is the meaning of redemption and justice for the Jewish and African American communities in the 21st century? What is the call to action for each community to work towards a more just world that prioritizes human and civil rights? Take time out from your busy schedule to focus one day on your relationship, which will enable you to gain skills that will prepare you for your life together. Benefit from meeting other couples and join in discussions led by trained counselors to explore expectations of your marriage, the families you grew up in and the family you are forming, communication, conflict resolution and decision-making.
