Make it a Season to Remember by Volunteering with TOV!

The JUF TOV Volunteer Network's winter calendar of one-time volunteer projects, Merry Mitzvot, is here! Merry Mitzvot offers many opportunities to give back during the holiday season. From sorting donations to serving food, you are sure to find a way to make your holidays more meaningful.

Projects are open now from Sunday, November 22, 2009 through Friday, January 1, 2010!

In conjunction with Merry Mitzvot, TOV will be collecting new or unopened travel-size toiletries and cleaning products to benefit the clients of local social service agencies.

There are projects for individuals and groups of all ages. For more information or to sign up, please visit the TOV website or call the TOV hotline at (312) 357-4762.

Volunteer with JCFS this holiday season by sorting and wrapping holiday gifts for children in need.

• Where: The JCFS Elaine Kersten Children’s Center in Northbrook
• Who: Children ages 10+ are welcome with an adult
• When: Space is available in three shifts this year:
  Friday, December 4, 1:00 – 3:00 p.m.
  Sunday, December 6, 9:00 – 12:00 noon
  Sunday, December 6, 1:00 – 4:00 p.m.

Sponsor a child in need this holiday season. JCFS is offering an opportunity to purchase gifts for a needy child. Every child receives approximately $50 in gifts that correspond to their wish lists. This program impacts children in foster care, residential services, counseling, and many other JCFS programs. Join teens from around Chicago for the November hands-on volunteer group project.

Come help out at the CJE SeniorLife Lieberman Campus, a 240-bed nursing home facility in Skokie. We will visit with residents, escort them to and join in the day’s entertainment, serve snacks and have fun!

• When: Sunday, November 22
• Where: CJE Senior Life, Lieberman Campus, 9700 Gross Point Road in Skokie
• Time: 1:00 – 3:30 p.m.

Use our new online registration form and make sure to grab your spot for this and other fall/winter MTVs. 2010 Individual volunteer dates at the JUF Uptown Cafe are now being scheduled! We need your help to meet the growing needs in the community.

• All Cafe scheduling is done over the phone. To schedule your dates, please call the TOV Hotline at (312) 357-4762.
• Volunteers may serve one meal each month.
• If you would like to volunteer more often and you have a flexible schedule, sign up for the Emergency Volunteer List here.
• Volunteers must be at least 12 years old and accompanied by an adult if under age 18.
• Due to their popularity, only two Sundays a year are available to volunteers.
