BreakAway: StudioChi

Multimedia Enthusiasts Use Your Passion for Social Good

Grab your friends and head to Wisconsin for BreakAway. With five different specialized projects, there's something for every interest.

StudioChi is back by popular demand! As one track of the JCC Chicago's BreakAway program,  StudioChi is a unique, hands-on learning experience for young writers, filmmakers, musicians, actors and multimedia enthusiasts to learn first-hand the art of storytelling through film, music and sound.  Utilizing Camp Chi's state-of-the-art recording studio and filming equipment, as well as their own smart phones, teens will craft original stories using a mix of technology and social media to explore how media arts can impact activism and social change. Read a blog post by a participant of last year's StudioChi and watch their final video here: https://www.jccchicago.org/kind-respectful-human/

You'll also have time to hang out with other BreakAway participants during joint meals, evening and late night programs, trips and more.

FAQ

Q: My friend is participating in a different BreakAway project. Will I get to see him/her?
A:
Yes. The great part about BreakAway is you can spend the day immersed in what interests you, and still get to hang out with your friends and all the teens from the other projects during meals, night activities, trips and down time.

Q: I participated in StudioChi last year, can I participate again this year?
A:
Yes. You can sharpen your skills and learn new tricks this time around. The theme of this year's video will also be different depending on what the group decides to focus on.

Q: I don't have any film or media experience. Is this program for me?
A:
Yes, just bring your creative side and a desire to learn! Everyone will have a part to play in the production of this video and the instructor will ensure that all skill levels feel productive.

Q: Can you accommodate my dietary restrictions?
A:
Special diets and food allergies can be accommodated. All food and preparation follows Kosher guidelines and is cooked in a CRC certified Kosher kitchen.
