Russian jBaby Classes-Musical Movement

Russian-speaking Jewish parents with babies and toddlers ages 0-24 months are invited to join a series of 4 classes for an interactive musical movement experience. Enjoy Jewish music, Russian sing-alongs, Havdalah and a variety of discussions including "How to Jew at Home!" The program will be held in Russian and English. Older siblings are also welcome! Light snacks will be offered at each class.

Purim Puppet Show & Carnival

Celebrate Purim with Nitsana Lazerus and her puppets! The show is held in ‘simple’ English and is very interactive with music and games. Enjoy Purim crafts and make masks with Ramah Day Camp. Come in costumes and snack on traditional Purim treats! Cost: $10 per family. RSVP at rjd@juf.org.

Defiant Requiem: Verdi at Terezin

A benefit for the Jewish Federation of Metropolitan Chicago’s Holocaust Community Services program. The Chicago premiere of this powerful multi-media production brings to life the story of Maestro Raphael Schächter and his choir of 150 fellow inmates of Terezin, who learned and performed Verdi’s Requiem Mass. Created and conducted by Maestro Murry Sidlin, it features a complete performance of Verdi’s Requiem, combined with on-stage drama, video interviews and film from the era. This performance features the Chicago Philharmonic, the Chicago Vocal Artists Ensemble, Jeremy Piven and Tovah Feldshuh. The event is chaired by Virginia & Norman Bobins and Karyn & Bill Silverstein. All production costs have been underwritten by the Crown Family and Pritzker Family Philanthropic Fund. All other gifts and proceeds will directly support Holocaust Community Services.
