Basic Information: Adult Day Services (ADS) offer a supervised, structured program for people with Alzheimer’s and other forms of cognitive impairment, as well as those who are too frail to be left alone during the day. A group setting maximizes the potential of each participant by promoting autonomy, creativity and self-esteem. Professional staff plans creative activities to stimulate the mind and body.

Traditional Day Services enable older adults who are too frail, isolated or lonely to maintain their independence in a dignified manner, while providing peace of mind for their caregivers.

The Asher program is a structured, therapeutic program that serves people with early-to mid-stage Alzheimer’s.

Adult Day Services North offers flexible hours in a beautiful north-suburban setting for persons with early stage dementia, depression or some frailty. Engaging and stimulating activities such as current event discussions, gardening, trips and holiday celebrations are planned to accommodate individual interests.

Basic Information: Geared toward older adults with early to moderate memory loss, CJE at Sinai, meets two days per week, Mondays and Thursdays, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., and provides highly stimulating, supportive and structured programs within a group setting. Programs include creative arts for self-expression, discussions on current events, word and other games, dance and exercise, intergenerational programs and more. Small group activities allow participants to choose how they want to enjoy each hour. Attendees receive morning and afternoon snacks and a catered lunch.

Basic Information: This innovative program combines cultural outings, creative arts activities and socialization for older adults with early stage memory loss. The 10-week program consists of day trips to various cultural sites throughout the Chicago area and inside programs involving creative arts, discussions, presentations and other stimulating experiences. A similar suburban program, the Northwest Culture Bus, is offered at the Barn of Barrington, 1415 S. Barrington Road.

Basic Information: Gidwitz Place, a six-story apartment building with 125 one and two bedroom units, offers a retirement lifestyle that allows older people to maintain a greater level of health, dignity and independence. Offering comfort, style and companionship, Gidwitz provides residents with housekeeping and basic personal care, restaurant-style Kosher meals, and a wide range of educational, social, cultural and holiday programs. 

Staff is on premises 24-hours a day, including a registered nurse during daytime hours.  Amenities include a cafe, mini-mart, beauty/barber shop, library, fitness and wellness centers, synagogue and meeting rooms, and beautifully landscaped grounds for walking. Trips to stores, special events and sites of special interest are part of the regular schedule of activities.

Basic Information: Offers 35 private rooms for people with early Alzheimer’s and related dementia. Professional trained staff members provide appropriate programs and services, 24-hour supervision and individualized attention to meet the needs of each resident. Three kosher meals are served every day. Facility includes a lounge with generous activity space, a hands-on activity kitchen and a large, protected outdoor strolling garden. Housekeeping, laundry and personal care are included.

Basic Information: Lieberman Center is a skilled long-term nursing facility for those who need more specialized nursing care. It also provides post-hospitalization and Medicare Part A short-term rehabilitation, a dementia special care unit as well as hospice and respite care. Home to 240 elderly residents, Lieberman offers private rooms, an onsite health center, dining room with kosher meals, beauty/barber shop, synagogue, social hall and more. Unique social, recreational, religious and rehabilitative programs are a regular part of the weekly agenda.

Basic Information: Short-term Rehabilitation serves patients after hospitalization. Licensed therapists provide physical, occupational, and speech therapy to Medicare-certified residents. Seven days a week. The rehab program emphasizes short-term, sub-acute rehabilitation and medical care with the goal of returning home.

Basic Information: Through Title III, CJE provides the home delivery of one to two hot kosher meals for older adults who are unable to shop and/or prepare food. All meals provide for calorie controlled, diabetic, low fat and low salt diets. Frozen meals, available during weekday delivery, may be used for weekends. Meals are delivered by volunteers between the hours of 10 a.m. and 3 p.m., Monday through Friday. CJE has a selection of delicious and freshly prepared frozen kosher foods and soup that can be delivered (free) to your door, Tuesdays and Thursdays, between 10:30 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. Prices range from $2.75 for chicken noodle soup to $8.25 for an entrée of Lake Superior Whitefish with lemon, boiled potatoes and spinach. Menu offers a selection of foods that accommodate most special diets.

Basic Information: Home Health, a Medicare-certified and state-licensed agency, provides services to homebound people who need care from specially trained professionals such as registered nurses, physical, occupational and speech therapists, social workers and home health aides. Patients have 24-hour access to care.  All services are performed under physicians’ orders.  CJE’s registered nurses (RNs) conduct in-home health assessments, fill medication cassettes, serve as client advocates, present educational programs, conduct health screenings, administer flu shots and identify changing healthcare needs.

Basic Information: Consumer Assistance staff provides free information, resources and advocacy on issues that impact older adults, including consumer benefits, community service, public assistance, Social Security, housing referrals, home repair, crime victim assistance, and RTA reduced fares. State-certified Senior Health Insurance Program (SHIP) counselors help older adults understand various types of health insurance and medical bill payments. Basic Information: CJE SeniorLife offers personal care services through a preferred provider agreement with Gentle Home Services (GHS). Personal care services provided by GHS include assistance on an hourly or live-in basis with meal preparation, light housekeeping and laundry, escorting to appointments or activities, companionship, medication reminders, help with bathing and dressing, and assistance with other household tasks. Nursing supervisor meets with the requesting client or family member to develop an individual care plan.
