Repair the world, one mitzvah at a time

Want an eco-friendly volunteer opportunity? JUF TOV Volunteer Network presents the second annual Green Mitzvah Mania, which will include sorting clothes at a local thrift shop, gardening at a nature conservatory and cleaning up a nature preserve.

The first project, at Bottomless Closet, takes place on Thursday, June 18.

No Higher Mitzvah: JUF Hosts Job Fair for Beginning and Mid-Level Jewish Professionals

As part of J-HELP: A Boost in Tough Times initiative, JUF is hosting a Job Fair specifically for beginning and mid-level Jewish professionals. The June 24 event, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Federation building, 30 S. Wells St., will feature a wide range of Chicago-area employers, all with available positions.

The Job Fair is being presented by JUF’s Young Leadership Division and Trades, Industries & Professions Division, in conjunction with Jewish Vocational Service and Hillels of Illinois. There is no charge to attend.

JUF Right Start

JUF Right Start is accepting Gift Voucher Applications during the summer months for those families who enroll their child in a Jewish Preschool for the first time starting this fall for the 2009 – 2010 school year. Depending on the number of days your child attends, a JUF Right Start Gift Voucher for as much as $1000 will be credited toward your child’s tuition. Get your child off to the “right start” by enrolling in a Jewish Preschool! For more information, go to www.juf.org/rightstart.

Teens Making A Difference

High school students, we will give you $25,000 to make some change! What kind of difference could YOU make? Join us for an amazing experience as you explore philanthropy and charitable giving. VOICES and KOLOT are hands-on youth philanthropy programs that give teens the opportunity to allocate at least $25,000 to important causes and make an impact on the world today. JCRC forum to focus on Iran policy options

JUF's JCRC in partnership with ADL and AJC present "Preventing the Iranian Bomb: National Policy Options and Local Action," a forum with Henry Sokolski, executive director of the Nonproliferation Policy Education Center (NPEC). An opportunity to learn what our community is already doing and what actions you can take to help prevent the Iranian bomb, the event is taking place June 23 at 7 p.m. at Anshe Emet Synagogue.
