Featuring Distinguished Speaker Sarah Tuttle-Singer

Sarah Tuttle-Singer is the New Media Editor at The Times of Israel, a current affairs website based in Jerusalem, Israel.

She was raised in Venice Beach, California on Yiddish lullabies and Civil Rights anthems. She now lives in Israel with her two kids, where she climbs roofs, explores cisterns, opens secret doors and talks to strangers. Sarah has written for The Times of Israel, Kveller, TIME.com and other publications about her life in Israel, her love of Jerusalem, and her family. Mostly she writes about people.

Her new book, Jerusalem, Drawn and Quartered: A Year Spent Living in the Christian, Muslim, Armenian, and Jewish Quarters of Old Jerusalem, will be published in May 2018. Jerusalem, Drawn and Quartered, is a book for anyone who's wondered who really lives in Israel, and how they coexist. It's a book that weaves the personal and political, the heartwarming and the heartstopping. Old City of Jerusalem may be set in stone, but it's always changing–and these pages capture that.

"Hebrew word for "charity" tzedakah, simply means "justice" and as this suggests, for Jews, giving to the poor is no optional extra but an essential part of living a just life."
