Regional Programs
- The Harriet & Maurice Lewis Summer Intern Program: Provides 26 young people a year with an intensive eight-week introduction to Jewish agencies serving the community. Read more »
- JCRC/Hillel Initiative for Israel on Illinois Campuses: Provides students with the knowledge and resources to advocate on behalf of Israel. Read more »
- The Gordon Brookstone Cultural Fund: Utilizes the fine arts to engage students in Jewish life.
- Alternative Spring and Winter Break Programming: Sends students on missions to other parts of the U.S. and other countries so that they can connect with the broader Jewish community while engaging in the fundamental Jewish task of “Tikkun Olam,” repairing the world.
- Yad B’Yad: In partnership with Jewish Child & Family Services, provides Jewish experiences and socialization opportunities for developmentally disabled Jewish young adults. - FACETS: Helps Jewish high school students and their families make decisions about college selection. Which campus is right for this particular student? How many Jews are there on campus? Is there a Hillel? Are there Jewish studies courses available? Is here kosher food, a daily minyan, opportunities for Jewish study? The Hillels of Illinois makes information available through college fairs at synagogues, high schools and other venues. Also, Hillel: The Foundation for Jewish Campus life maintains a comprehensive “Guide to Jewish Life on Campus” that provides extensive information on hundreds of colleges and universities. The Hillel International Cnter also publishes a “Guide to the College Balancing Act” called Chai Wire.
- GAP: Brings graduate and professional students together with the Jewish community at that critical time of their lives when they are choosing spouses and making the decisions that will shape the rest of their lives. Read more »
- Studying About? Connect Jewish! Connects Jewish students on semester or year abroad programs with Jewish families and Jewish community anywhere in the world. Read more »
- Young Adults in the City! Identifies and reaches out to recent graduates who have just moved to Chicago and helps them get involved in the Jewish community. Read more »
- Taglit birthright israel: Provides 18-26 year olds free first time trips to Israel so that they can connect with their heritage.
- JUF Campus Campaign: On behalf of the Jewish Federation/Jewish United Fund of Metropolitan Chicago, helps students understand the joy and gratification of helping others who are in need – in Israel, in Chicago and around the world.
- Hillel Cross Campus Programming: Includes Russian Hillel, The Faculty Series, Weekend in the woods, and various social events.
