Spertus Institute of Jewish Studies is a Jewish educational and cultural organization that invites people of all ages and backgrounds to explore the multi-faceted Jewish experience. Spertus is located at 610 S. Michigan Avenue in an award-winning facility that houses Spertus College, the Asher Library, and Spertus Museum, as well as a state-of-the-art theater for live performance and film, the innovative Gray Children’s Center, space for community events and celebrations, kosher catering facilities, and a comprehensive book and gift shop.
For Summer 2010, Spertus offers an internship opportunity in its Institutional Outreach and Design Department (the area that handles marketing, public relations, and government and community relations, as well as the organizations print materials and website).
Internship responsibilities will include:
- Assistance with publicity and marketing to a variety of Jewish and general audiences, through both traditional and new media
- Assistance with communication vehicles for Spertus staff, donors, and volunteers
- Creative copywriting for the gift shop section of the Spertus website
- Tracking and filing of Spertus press coverage
Position requires strong writing and computer skills, general administrative skills, openness to new challenges, a good eye for detail, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a lively team.

The intern would be involved in marketing the website to both job seekers and employers in person, by telephone, through social networking sites, Constant Contact and any other format that he/she develops.
A junior or senior marketing major who has solid writing, communications and social networking skills is preferred.
